During the finalization of the PROOF project, Harvey was invited to participate in a mail-art show in Texas. The theme of the show was ‘Rivers and Bridges’, and works could be loosely based on that subject.
Using similar methods to PROOF, A SMALL ACT OF PROOF lasted for five mailings before it was forwarded to the gallery. The major difference from PROOF, however, was that instead of showing the daily newspaper in the Polaroid each Harvey photographed themselves on a bridge or near a river in their home city. Thus, the photo becomes a document that the location of the artist during the project.
At the end of the exhibition, the gallery mailed back the photographs, along with a photo of the staff to say thanks.
